My Mustang is one of the last fitted with an old type 5.0 ltr engine, designed in the 60's. This GT was built in 1994 and is getting quite old! The paintwork is original and not a respray, it came to the uk in 1998 and ive owned it since 2002. Over the past few years its not been used much but I decided to drive it more this summer, my 2 year old loves being out in it with the roof down!
I start by rinsing the car with a hose and wash it using Meguiar's shampoo and wash mitt- two buckets to avoid grit. Then dry with an old synthetic chamois. I use Meguiar's Quick clay over the whole car to smooth off any blemishes and then polish out any spots with Poorboys black hole glaze by hand with a microfibre cloth.
I only tend to use shampoo to clean the wheels using a Meguiar's conical wheel brush to get at the hard to reach bits.. The paintwork is then finished by applying R222 wax with foam pad and polishing by hand with a microfibre cloth. I use a 1/2 inch paintbrush to apply and evenly spread the Meguiar's Tyre Shine. Inside I Hoover the seats and carpets apply some Autoglym leather cream and buff off. The rest of the interior is treated with Armorall and car plan glass polish inside and out.
I get some nice comments from people about the condition of the car one person at a petrol station recently commented the Mustang looked brand new and was surprised when I told him it was nearly 20 years old!
