How Gary Used Our Products
This is one of 39 Marcos Mantis road cars developed from the Marcos LM that raced at Le Mans, with Class wins in the FIA GT Championship, and won the British GT and Dutch Supercar Championships.
My Marcos Mantis is painted in a Standox Red Rocket with hues ranging from black through red to bronze. It has now covered 38,000 since manufacture in 1997, and I have driven it on 1000 mile weekend trips to France without missing a beat.
Powered by a Ford Mustang 4.6 litre 32V V8 engine and weighing 1100 kg it’s a great driving machine from a relatively unknown British Sports Car Company.
It is washed, cleansed and waxed with Swissvax and Zymol products that help intensify the colour and depth of shine. Having used Zymol wax for a few years I have started changing to Swissvax when my products have run out. Swissvax Scuderia wax was recommended for the flexible fibreglass bodywork of my Marcos. It is certainly easy to apply and looks stunning, and is now cheaper than Zymol Ital wax
I wash my car with Zymol Autobath after first rinsing off any dirt, then with a new microfibre towel washing a section at a time before rinsing, then a final rinse of the whole car with water through an Aqua Gleam water filter. I then use a new microfibre towel to pad it dry.
As I only use my Marcos in the summer months, I cleanse it in the spring with Zymol HD cleanser, making sure I remove all residues and leaving it for a few days before waxing. Applying wax one panel at a time by hand, waxing the next panel, then wiping off the wax from the previous panel, always working in a straight line, no circular motions.
If my cars at a show I will detail it with a field glaze depending on the wax used.
The leather interior is treated with Gliptone products that have kept it in perfect condition, it still feels and smells like new.
