How George Used Our Products
I try and detail my car every week, especially as I find it extremely relaxing and love to see the finished result of all my hard graft:) It's taken me a while to get it right, but now I think i've nailed it. Because my car is stored outside, over 4 years the paint diminished somewhat and living by the coast it was a target for sand and bird droppings...so it's imperative my car has that special coating.
After washing the car, before applying the first coat of wax I always think it's a good idea to get the surface prepped.
I bought a Meguiars clay bar kit, as I think it's a great way of making the surface smooth. The clay bar removes the inherant dirt accumulated on tha paintwork and leaves the surface shiny with a gloss, shiny finish.
Clay is basically a special formula of modeling clay, which you rub on the car paints. Before you rub you just apply a spray product called "lube" which helps the clay slip across the surface.
If you don't want to do that then you should at least clean the pores of the paintwork and prep the surface of the paintwork. This will ensure that wax will bond (most waxes you get tubs are natural and they dont bond with the paint) the AG one contains crystaline polymers which mind bond or just stenghten the wax.
Also, by prepping the paintwork you wont acutally be locking fall out against your paint.
For prepping I use a simple Super Resin Polish from Autoglym as its easy to get. The final finish is awesome giving your car a deep, wet look.
