How Jonathan Used Our Products
My Car is a 2009 Remapped BMW 123D Hatchback, I purchased her in May 2013 after crashing my Vauxhall Astra 1.9CDTI. This is the first time I really gave her a detail and also the first time I've ever used a Dual action polisher. Here’s how I detailed her:
Paint Preparation:
- Car washed using Meguiars NXT Car Wash, I use this shampoo because of its slickness and wax protection.
- Car cleansed using Dodo Juice Tarmalade to remove all tar, glue, bugs etc., starting the paint cleanse process.
- Car washed again using Meguiars NXT Car Wash.
- Paint and wheels coated in Iron X for a full decontamination and cleanse, a brilliant product for removing brake dust etc.
- Car washed again using Meguiars NXT Car Wash.
- Car paint clayed with Dodo Juice basics of bling and lubricant.
- Car washed for a final time using Meguiars NXT Car Wash (including the wheels).
- All paint work dried using Microfibre Monster Purple Monster and the patting technique. The towel is edgeless giving less chance of inducing marring/swirls. With the paint preparation finished it time for polishing.
Paint Polishing:
Dual action used for the whole process is the Kestral DAS6 Pro, I like this polisher as you can change the RPM of the pad and it’s pretty safe for your car.
- First pass for medium correction, I used Menzerna Power finish 2500 for removing swirls etc., used with Dodo juice Orange cutting pad.
- Second pass for light correction and gloss I used Menzerna Super Finish 4000, with a Dodo juice Green polishing pad.
- Third pass for gloss, Menzerna Final Finish 3000, with Dodo Juice Black finishing pad.
Final Products:
All products removed using Monster Microfibre Purple Monster Detailing cloths.
- Two complete layers of Chemical Guys Black Light giving extreme glaze and reflections.
- A single layer of Dodo Juice Purple Haze for depth and minor protection.
- A final layer of Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid wax for durability.
Glass:
Windows cleaned using Poorboys QD, Finished with Rain X.
Interior:
Leather conditioned with Meguiars GC Rich Leather Cleaner & Conditioner Gel.
Interior Trim cleaned using Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer.
Finally a spray with California Scents for that clean car smell.
