How Sean Used Our Products

BMW 640d M Sport 2013 is a daily driver - although it is well maintained it still has to endure the everyday elements and the contamination that ultimately gets onto the car. I do a full correction twice a year to maintain the 6 Series, but this time I wanted to go that stage further by bringing out the red metallic fleck in the paint, which is an Individual special colour.

I have used and purchased all of my car maintenance products from the UF guys for a while now and more importantly the advice they give is second to none. I had previously being using Scholl Concept polishes which have been extremely good, however, Sean at UF recommended I try using the Menzerna polishes range to get the desired results. So after a prompt delivery by UF, I set about the process.

  1. I started by spraying the whole car down with the pressure washer taking all lose dirt and grime off the car.
  2. Applied Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner to all wheels and left to go to work whilst I then came back to the first wheel to thoroughly wash it using a dedicated wheel wash bucket and my Wheel Wollies.
  3. Once all four wheels had been cleaned, I covered the whole car and wheels and wheel arches with UF Ultimate Snow Foam and left to soak and pull off any dirt or grim left on the surface. Whilst waiting I used a detailing soft haired brush to clean the areas in between the badges and along the window rubbers, fuel cap and the deck housing the window screen wipers. The engine bay was also washed off and cleaned, using Autoglym Active Insect Remover and Nanolex Tar Remover - yes, I have found that these two products to be excellent in removing all of those unwanted and unsightly manufacturing engine waxes and grim. The engine was dried and sprayed with Meguiar’s Hyper Dressing and wiped down to achieve the desired level of finish.
  4. This was sprayed off and then I applied Bilt-Hamber, Korrosol Iron Fallout Remover, which I personally think is brilliant. This was applied to all the wheels and the lower half of the car only. Once it had done its job, it was pressure washed off.
  5. Then I went about with the two bucket washing method using Advanced Poseidon's Carnauba Wash, from Valet Pro with my Microfiber Madness Incredipad, which gilds beautifully over the surfaces.
  6. Followed by Bilt-Hamber Auto-Clay Medium (200g) over the whole car including the windows to lift those contaminates further.
  7. To up the crazy, I followed this by a further wash and blow off with my blower and final dry with my Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe Drying Towel. I really recommend this drying towel, as it’s by far the best I've used and never seems to get water laden.
  8. I started polishing the whole car using my Rupes LHR 12E DLX Duetto with a Rupes Green 6" pad, as the BMW paint is very hard and I wanted to make little work of the correction process. I used Menzerna Super Finish 3500, which cut through the swirl beautifully, and I have to say, the best result yet. Followed by a Nanolex EX Residue Remover, before going over the car again with a RUPES 6" Yellow pad and Menzerna Super Finish Plus 3800 to see if there was any improvement, to the already great finish. I then decided that the 6" White Rupes pad gave me more depth in the paint finish. Once this was finished, each panel was wiped down with Nanolex EX Residue Remover and Menzerna Power Lock applied by hand using a sponge applicator pad.
  9. Left to cure overnight, the next morning I applied two coats of R222 Concours Look Carnauba Wax, which finished the process and enhanced the depth of finish, whilst providing the Autumn and Winter protection.
  10. Wheels were hand polished with Scholl Concepts S40 Anti Swirl-Compound Black and sealed using Power Lock and a coat of R222 wax and tyres where dressed using Meguiar’s Endurance Tyre Gel, which I have found to be the best product for use in the U.K, given our weather.
  11. Windows polished and the leather interior cleaned with Nanolex Interior Cleaner and left to dry and a final coat of Gtechniq L1 Leather Guard, which I recommend to anyone with a light colour leather interior. Its proved to be brilliant at stopping jean transfer. The piano black trim which is highly sensitive to scratches, was wiped down using a cotton wool pad and R222 wax dressed and polished off, all the time using the cotton wool pad.
