My car is a 2007 BMW 120d m sport in metallic black. Same as most new cars when I got it the paint was full of swirls so I purchased the Meguiars polishing kit with Sonus 1-2-3. I started off with the pre wash in snow foam and left it for 4 min to lift the dirt the pressure washed off, next was a wash with the two bucket method with grit guards as to not add any more swirls!! Then dried with a micro fibre drying towel.
Now this is when the hard work started with using various compounds to take the swirls off and the finish it with SFX3 to give the paint a silky smooth finish. It did take most of the day but boy was it worth it! better condition than when it was brand new !
If I have just machine polished the car I normally apply the wax strait onto it, if not I use R222 Pre-Wax Cleaner and then top up with a wax. This was my daily driver putting over 40,000 miles a year on it but with a good few layers of wax and wheel sealant all it needed was a pre-wash in Snow Foam and a two bucket wash to keep it maintained and swirl free !
It was the cleanest BMW around thanks to Ultimate Finish.
