2011 Aston Martin Rapide 6.0 Litre V12 (Dark Blue).
The Aston Martin Rapide is a 4-door, 4-seater, high-performance sports saloon introduced in 2010. It was first presented as a concept car at the North American Auto Show in 2006 and the production version was shown at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. ‘Rapide’ is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a 4-door saloon produced by Lagonda, now part of Aston Martin. Based on the DB9, the new Rapide is the company’s first 4-door fastback saloon since the Lagonda which was discontinued in 1989.
Following cleaning, the damage to the dark blue paintwork on this 2011 example was clear to see. In addition to wash-induced swirls, there were also many holograms and buffer trails, particularly on the door panels. Correction was carried out using Menzerna Heavy Cut Compound 400 on Meguiar’s Microfibre Cutting Pads. The paintwork was then refined using Menzerna Super Finish 3500 on RUPES Fine Polishing Pads. All stages were completed with a RUPES LHR 15 Mark II and LHR 75E Mini for the tighter areas.
The paintwork was cleaned with Nanolex EX, a slow evaporation residue remover to eliminate any polish residues prior to an application of Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra. After curing for one hour, Crystal Serum was over-coated with EXO V4 (Crystal Serum Ultra Black). The leather was thoroughly cleaned and then protected with Colourlock Leather Protector. The fabric carpets treated with Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric Anti-Bacterial V2.
