Auto Express Group Test ‘Wash Waxes’
During the winter many car care enthusiasts can be put off a lengthy maintenance program – it’s too cold, it’s too dark and frankly, it’s too miserable out there!
One of the ways to cut cleaning times is to use a ‘wash wax’ so Auto Express recently conducted a test on a selection of wash waxes to see how they compared. Amongst the range were Autoglym Aqua Wax, Meguiar’s Gold Class Quik Wax, Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Wax and ValetPro Citrus Bling. The principle was simple – use a wash wax so you don’t have to dry the car before waxing. In addition to being a speedy way to wax, a wash wax should apply protection whilst dispersing water.
The Test:
- Durability – how long do they last even when they get rained on!
- Ease of use
- Water beading – how well and how long does it last
- Price
The Verdict:
Winner: Meguiar’s Gold Class Quik Wax – 5 STARS.
“Clearly working right to the end of our test – Whilst the instructions don’t mention applying to wet panels, Meguiar’s clearly knows its products well as this combination of polymers and carnauba wax is a winner….It goes on in a fine mist, so you don’t use much, and it buffs easily to a shine. Not the cheapest, but the best.”
Autoglym Aqua Wax also fared very well. In issue test 1147 Aqua Wax won hands down, but achieved 4 Stars when compared to the Meguiar’s Gold Class Quik Wax.
