Audi cars – they’re all about performance, style and build quality. The TTS is arguably the epitome of all these attributes!
Lightweight aluminium and steel body shell, powered by a 2 litre turbo-charged 4 cylinder engine, the Audi TTS achieves an impressive 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds. The body-coloured front spoiler lip and rear diffuser gives this car a supremely aggressive look. Traditional Audi daytime running lights completes the picture – the warning, as if anyone needed one, that the TTS is right behind you!
To start with the TTS bodywork and wheels were treated with Nanolex Wheel Cleaner & Iron Remover to reveal and remove bonded iron contamination. When brakes are applied, pads shred and cause tiny particles to become airborne. These particles attach to bodywork and wheels and if left untreated, will bond and imbed into the surface. Nanolex Wheel Cleaner & Iron Remover latches on to the particles and shrinks them, causing the bond between the particle and the substrate to break, allowing the particle to be rinsed freely away.
Next Bilt-Hamber Surfex-HD was applied to remove the build-up of traffic film, oily residues and silicones, then rinsed. Then Ultimate Snow Foam was applied and allowed to dwell, lifting larger particles of dirt away from the surface of the paintwork.
The TTS was then washed using the Two Bucket Method, Microfibre Madness Incredimitt and Bilt-Hamber Auto-Wash Shampoo.
Auto-Wash has anti-corrosive properties so it’s great for damaged paintwork. The Incredimitt has very long microfibre noodles which lift dirt away from the surface of the paint whilst you’re washing, burying them in the noodles so they’re not being constantly washed against the surface of the paint. Rubbing the mitt across the grill of the ScratchShield in the bottom of the rinse bucket releases the dirt from the microfibre noodles and the dirt settles in the bottom of the bucket. It makes the whole wash process much safer for the bodywork! – Derek Ginger, Master Detailer, UDS
Washed and dried the TTS was brought into the studio for inspected under high intensity lighting.
Using the SCHOLL Concepts Orange Sandwich Waffle Pad and S17 High Performance Compound the swirls were removed from the paintwork.
The Orange Sandwich Waffle Pad works really well – the interface means the pad feels firm to start with but then softens as you work. The waffle texture allows for better air circulation so the pad doesn’t get so hot and that allows you to work the compound for longer to ensure it’s fully broken down. The results are a fabulous gloss! – Derek Ginger, Master Detailer, UDS
Once the paintwork was refined the bodywork and wheels were cleansed using Nanolex PROFESSIONAL Paint Cleaner. This removes any traces of polish residue and prepares the surfaces for the Nanolex PROFESSIONAL Paint & Alloy Sealant.
The glass was polished using Nanolex PREMIUM Glass Polish to remove hazing and fine scratches, then cleansed with PREMIUM Glass Cleaner before URBAN Glass Sealant was applied. This sealant is ultra hydrophobic, encouraging rain water to bead and blow away even whilst driving at lower speeds.
The tyres were dressed using Swissvax Pneu for a natural satin sheen.
The reflection in the paintwork was absolutely crystal. When the customer collected his TTS he couldn’t wait to show everyone the results and promised to return in the near future. But if he looks after it correctly it will be at least a year before he’s back – unless he buys another car!
