ValetPRO were in no rush with this one. Classic Quick Detailer replaces Citrus Bling, the do-everything spray they sold for seventeen years, and it is a deliberately narrower product — built to do one job properly rather than four jobs adequately.

That job is slip and gloss. Spray it onto a microfibre, wipe it over clean paint and buff it off, and you are left with a surface dust slides off rather than sticks to. It dries clear with no haze, which is the part most quick detailers get wrong. ValetPRO developed it on a black van for exactly that reason — on black paint, the slightest smear shows up straight away.

Pro tips

• Spray the cloth, not the car. It gives you control over where the product lands — outdoors especially, direct spraying puts it on glass and panels you have already finished.
• Use two cloths. One to spread, a clean dry one to buff. Trying to do both jobs with one cloth is how you end up with streaks.

How to use

1. Wash and dry the car first. A quick detailer is a finishing product, not a cleaner.
2. Spray two or three mists onto a clean, folded microfibre cloth.
3. Work it evenly over one panel at a time.
4. Buff off with a second, dry microfibre cloth.
5. Repeat for extra gloss if you want it. Spraying directly onto the panel also works, and suits concentrating on one water mark or run, but you have less control over where it lands.

• Not a substitute for washing. Used on a dirty car it will mar the paint.
• Contains 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one. May produce an allergic reaction.
